Industrial Hygiene Technician/Environmental Technician

NoVA Environmental Solutions is seeking a full time environmental/industrial hygiene technician. While your job duties may fluctuate day to day, here are some areas we expect to see you proficient in:
  • Assessments on asbestos-containing materials, mold, sewage contamination, and more.
  • All aspects of being an Asbestos Project Monitor including performing all fieldwork requirements, such as calibrating and operating equipment for acquiring air samples, collecting, and analyzing air samples during asbestos abatement projects, making mathematical calculations, collecting relevant data, observing field situations, and documenting events.
  • Interacting and communicating with contractors, technicians, and project managers, property managers, facilities managers, homeowners.
  • Writing clear field reports of site activities each day.
  • Assisting with report production.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Shenandoah Valley, northern Virginia, and the D.C. area, work in the field, work outdoors, wear a respirator, and lift 50 lbs. is required.

Candidate Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience conducting asbestos project monitoring and inspections (air and bulk sampling). Asbestos Project Monitor and Asbestos Inspector licenses and completion of NIOSH 582 Course or equivalent, are required. Experience conducting mold inspections, indoor air quality studies, environmental sampling (e.g., drinking water sampling, soil sampling, etc.), lead inspections and risk assessments, exposure monitoring and/or other industrial hygiene related work is a definite plus.
Professional certifications/licenses such as Mold Inspector and D.C. Licensed Mold Assessor is preferred. Certified and licensed Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor or other Health and Safety or Environmental certifications are a definitely plus and may open more opportunities. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully pass a background check as clearance requirements for access to Federal facilities may be necessary and will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
